Savannah is located at the mouth of the Savannah River that runs along the Georgia - South Carolina border. Cargo ships sail up the Savannah river. During the days of early Savannah, Warehouses were built on a street along the Savannah River. The street is called River Street. Today, River Street features clus, restaurants and shops along cobbleston streets. This popular downtown Savannah attraction leads to the waterfront's plaza. In days gone by, the area near the waterfront is where farmers and fishermen brought their goods to market. Today, this four block area is the center of Savannah's commercial life.
